An Easter Vignette20:48:00
That would have been my response to that term 6-8 months ago. However, since immersing myself in blogland and by following some very crafty, stylish ladies about the place, you soon pick up on a few simple, yet fancy things and a vignette is one of these. Without even knowing this little interior decorator term, I reckon I already had a few little vignettes dotted around the home. I wouldn't say they look anything like the ones you see in Country Style magazine (oh so inspiring. One day!!) nor would they make the cut on the Block and they definitely aren't purposely decorative but they are there and Im going with it. If you didn't already know, a vignette is a concept applied in interior design whereby you create a pretty little scene that gives an insightful impression about a character, an idea or a particular setting.
I wouldn't say I have a particular style going on in my house at the moment nor do I have a lot of stuff that I could use for vignettes. Im not a big fan of clutter or hoarding of things so to speak but I do have a few really, really nice pieces which include but are not exclusive to lovely vases, candelabras, a few lovely picture frames, the odd ceramic bird and an owl or two. I reckon I could also probably find some more things tucked away in the back of the cupboards that could easily become the substances of some lovely vignettes. Just add flowers so they say!
I would have to say my biggest vignetting problem at the moment would be that I don't have places to arrange them, let alone places that are unreachable to two year old and 18 month old fingers. We don't even have a coffee table for goodness sakes!
However. (Pause and smirk here) However, much to the dismay of my husband, I am in 'collecting' phase. He he. I will be moving to a house in the next five years that is a minefield for vignettes and I aim to please. Ill be filling every nook and cranny with beautiful vignettes of beautiful, interesting and funky things that I like and have accumulated along the way. Oh I can't wait!!
I must say it really does make a difference to the feel of your home when you do make an effort to purposely place a few bits and bobs together. It really can put your personality stamp around the place. I like nice things and as I mentioned I don't have a lot of shelf space, a coffee table or a nice big dresser to do this sort of thing but I currently do have a purposely placed shelf in my kitchen where I can and do have a little bit of a vignetting play. I wrote about this shelf (more so the items on it) excitedly once here. This spot is also awesome as it is in the most used room in the house which means that I and all my visitors will get to see it and enjoy it too!
Last week, Babymac did a little table decorating on her blog last week for Easter and it got me a little bit inspired to do something in my own house on this said shelf and I figured that I decorate for Christmas so why not Easter, right? I already had my little green Easter bunnies from an earlier purchase at the beginning of the year, (my kids love rabbits) I have a little collection of egg cups going on since the kids have been born and we had a lovely market in town yesterday where I was able to purchase the cutest little bunny box going around.
Now I am no stylist, and really I have no idea but how hard can it be to put a few things together all pretty and nice. Well its not hard and now well, just call me Martha!!!
Here is my Easter Vignette. A pretty cute little vignette if I do say so myself.
The clever ladies who made that cute little bunny box are from The Papered Tree and I can also tell you that 2 Little Hearts made those lovely Easter egg flowers and if you so desire you can take a look yourself at the lovely goods that were on offer at this awesome market here. The girls at Twig and Bloom do a bloody great job!
As for that vignette, all I have to do now is add chocolate. Yummo!!
Do you do vignettes?
Do you decorate for Easter? If so, I would love to see what you have done. Links to your Instagram please!!!
Ill be doing (hopefully) a bit of gardening, more like pottering and some 'craft' activities with the kids in the lead up to Easter. Im also really hoping the days stay warm and sunny here for a little bit longer. It really is a nice town on the senses here in autumn that's for sure.
Can you believe I am 23 weeks pregnant now? 17 to go. Yikes!!!!
Im also linking in with Mummy Mondays today here at The Multitasking Mummy.
Thanks for visiting today.
