An Adjoining Hotel Room Door11:53:00
I am not very proud to report that I was late to my own cousins wedding on Saturday. In fact I am pretty shattered I missed it. The ceremony is the best part in my books. Waiting and seeing everyone all dressed up and I especially love the moment when the bride first appears and you tear up and swoon at how beautiful she looks. Not to mention all of her entourage as they waltz on up towards the groom in waiting. Sigh!!! I won't point fingers at why we were late, a lost invite and incorrect details given is enough but still. Bugger........ We did get there eventually though, just fashionably late.
Before I go on here and fill you in on the details of this beautiful wedding, I must tell you of a funny story that happened on the weekend which started when we finally arrived at our accommodation at the Echuca Hotel. (which was awesome may I just add.)
Cam and I got to the hotel in what I thought was excellent time. All my family were booked in here but of course everyone had left already. I had originally timed the trip so that we would have enough time to put my face on and for Cam to get showered and suited up and also to source an automatic car from either dad or my brother as I cannot for the life of me, well maybe in a real emergency, drive the manual D Max in which we came.
Now my sister Cecilia was our roomy for the evening and of course she had already taken our room key; the only key for that room apparently, so I was then given a master key and it didn't open the door. It was all smooth sailing at this rate; NOT!! We weren't going to be late at all. So rather than waste more time trying to organise a bloody key, we thought we'd just get ready in my brother's room. Room 9.
Now upon entering this man cave of sorts I immediately felt like that this was not my brothers room. There was a pair of blue and white hawiaan shorts on the floor, double pluggers that looked way too small, a suede jacket slung over a chair and a camera sitting next to the television, all of which i knew Xavier did not possess. A sister hunch. I just knew. Anyway I thought Id better call my sister back and see if he was rooming with someone and it turned out it was Uncle Steve. Ok then, so where the hell was Xav's stuff?
Cue the You Tube video at the start of this post, an adjoining door to room 8 was open and we were on Xav's side of the room, the car keys swiftly located.
The hawiaan shorts in the adjoining room then must have been Steve's which made sense, I think I've seen him wear similar before. The jacket he must have left behind, but I still wasn't sure about the camera as I dont think Ive ever seen Steve take a photo in my life. Cam actually even considered taking it to the reception just in case he did leave it behind, but we thought we'd better just leave it there.
All good so we got ready. We draped the suit and dress over the beds, Cam had a shower and I got to work on my make-up. We packed all our stuff and headed off to the wedding and I was praying that Shannon would be fashionably late so that we wouldn't miss a beat.
We were late and missed the entire ceremony unfortunately. However, I will save all the gorgeous wedding details for you in an up and coming post as it truly was a great evening. Ive even commissioned a few pics from my cousin who took lots and lots of photos at the ceremony. Phew...
The next morning as I was getting dressed and then tidying up all our gear, two blokes appeared and stopped about 20 metres out in front of our room to have a look at the mighty Murray River on what looked like to be a morning stroll. One of them was wearing the blue and white hawiaan shorts. I immediately gave out a huge choking like laugh with the hand over the mouth and yelled out to Cam 'That wasn't Steve's or Xav's room yesterday. We were in some strangers bloody hotel room getting ready. OMG!!!'
Cam had used the shower and a towel and I probably dusted the entire bathroom sink in natural glow make-up powder. Steve WAS rooming in with Xav, but on what we thought was Xav's side of the adjoining door. Why this adjoining door was unlocked I do not know but who cares, we were in some strangers room. Yikes!!
We always see the funny side of these situations and had a good laugh about it over breakfast when I relayed the story back to everyone and wouldn't you know it, the same bloke in the hawiaan shorts walked right on past with his entourage of family and friends. 'There's Steve' I exclaimed and pointed out and boy oh boy did we laugh even more. I felt like I should have gone up to him and invite him to breakfast as I felt like we knew them so well now and to tell them what had happened. Ha ha!! Then to top it off, you know what mum said? She said you should have put the hawiaan shorts on and taken selfies with the camera. Cue hysterical laughter here. I still can't believe she said that. Can you imagine a 31 week pregnant chick in a pair of blue and white hawiaan shorts, double plugger thongs and her hair and make up done up to the nines, taking selfies on some unbeknown person's camera. Yeah right!!
Now when I think about it though, that would have been pretty bloody funny.
Have you accidentally ended up in someone elses hotel room before? Id love to hear the story.
