An Autumn Vignette18:54:00
I may have just become a little bit addicted to this new vignetting concept I have recently stumbled across. What can I say, there is lots to love about it. A thought, something that has inspired me, collecting bits and pieces, scouring the house for trinkets and treasures and then the actual fruition and putting it all together. These envisaged vignettes always look amazingly good and of superior interior designer quality in my head by the way, and upon completion if I think it looks ok on the shelf then I happily dust off the hands and smile at a job well done.
I am also enjoying the fact that it gives me a little project to do every now and again other than watching Frozen for the tenth time in a row and building farms with Duplo. It also gives me a great excuse to get onto Pinterest and enjoy a bit of 'crafting' with the kids as it just so happened this particular time.
With about two weeks to go until winter sets in I finally cleared the shelf of the Easter vignette and all the other crap that suddenly just seemed to accumulate there and I put together my Autumn vignette.
The whole entire idea was inspired by a little crafting project that I saw here on 'The Mumma Tells' blog. I did omit the contacting of the leaves part but it turned out to be a great little activity with the kids to fill an hour in the afternoon. We have copius amounts of autumn leaves for the taking out the front and the kids loved collecting them. I had to assist with the threading but the best fun as you will see was using the scissors and cutting everything up at the end. Oh the mess!!!
Hows the concentration in this pic?
What to do with a length of leaves on a string? Well the fridge is usually where these sorts of projects end up but this time I thought my little shelf project would be the perfect spot for it.
For the rest, the kids and I collected those silly, useless baubles that fall from the Plain Trees every autumn. You know the ones that really, really hurt when you stand on them. They really have no use except for mess and now my vignette (fancy that!) so we collected enough to fill an old jam jar.
Around at Pop's place last Friday I pinched a few dried seed pods from the Gladitsia tree, I picked a lemon from the backyard and some flower heads from the bunch of Chrysanthemums vased in the lounge. (These are the best cut flowers by the way. They are lasting for ages, even out of water and without even changing the water.) Then I thought the bottle of whisky we bought in Albany in March would fit in this little composition because you can make alcohol fit with everything didn't you know, and really who doesn't need a nip of whisky to warm you up as the days start getting cooler? (Which alarmingly is not the case here at all)
That is my vignette for Autumn.
What do you think?
Now to think of what to do for winter....Hhhmmmm.....
Did you know Im having a baby in 10 weeks? Holy Sh*@$!!
Im pondering life with 3 kids and not even one bit anxious about it at all. Really Im not. Though I am always told it does get a little bit trickier....Its also making me realise that it really is pretty cruisy around here right now. Are we mad??? ha ha!
Im also wondering how much bigger this belly and my butt is going to get in that ten weeks.
I have started the nesting and the baby clothes are sorted into boys and girls. Its lovely remembering how cute Hugh and Edith both looked in their little outfits and jumpsuits. Nnaaaaaawwww.....
I think Im having a girl. Its going to be an outnumbering of the blokes in this house..he he!! Above and beyond, we are getting very excited as August starts to draw very close that's for sure.
It was also timely that Kirsten from her own personal blog Kirsten and Co posted on FB her favourite little corner in her house the other day, so Im cueing from that one and am going to ask you as well, have you got a favourite little nook, vignette or corner of the house you are enjoying at the moment?
I'd too would love to see it. Send us a link and do go and check out her blog. She is fabulous.
Im off now to see if any of my dresses fit me for a wedding we are going to on the weekend. Cant wait to share that with you all next week.
